Due to the popularity of the FOREX System Reviews that were posted in March, I have decided to offer reviews of stock trading systems in an ongoing, series. The first of this series will be for the GStock Supercomputer Trading Strategy. GStock claims to be “a Virtual Supercomputer formed by many computers calculating a huge amount of investment strategies with one goal - To pick the best profit making strategy for each stock.”
Purchasing access to GStock was a simple process. I visited this link, entered my name and email and then continued to the credit card page. After the purchase was complete, I was immediately directed to a page that allowed me to change the settings for the email alerts that I wanted to receive as well as a link to access a very through stock charting and scanning system, which is the main part of the GStock product. You can also have GStock email you newly generated picks on a periodic basis.
The Stock Picker part of the site is an advanced stock filter allowing you to sort through the recent signals that have been generated by the system. Picks can be sorted by several different qualities, including the success rate of previous picks on that stock, whether it’s a buy or sell pick, number of times that sock has been recommended and a few other factors. One of the scans that I ran was to show which stocks have had a return of greater than 250%, a success ratio of picks greater than 90%, and more than 10 trades for the last 5 years. The Stock Picker returned 45 results that qualified for these requirements.
The site will also generate charts for any stock that shows all previous and current signals on that stock as well as news, a company profile, and a great deal of other information if you want it. You can also choose to see as far back as 10 years worth of signals. The individual company pages use Flash to quickly generate, clear and easy to understand charts.
You can also help GStock with their system calculations and making your computer part of the “GStock Supercomputer” by downloading and installing a small piece of software. This part was a bit disappointing though. I had imagined that it would include some sort of interesting graphical display or some sort of information about the calculations it was running, similar to the BOINC program that is used to do the calculations for SETI@home and other “volunteer computing” projects. However, when you install the program, it does not even show up in your system tray, it just runs in the background and the only indication that the program is even working is a small log file in the installation directory of the program.
The only real issue that I had with the GStock website after the purchase was with navigation. Some of the important links, such as “My Account”, “Logout”, “Help”, etc. are at the top of the page, but when you’re looking to browse back the to Stock Picker, Stock Alerts or other pages, be sure to remember to look at the bottom of the page for these navigational buttons.
Overall, I would have to say that this is a great product for traders that are interested in a ready-made stock trading system that also has the flexibility to allow you do scans and choose the trades you want to take. The price for this system is only $19.95 for everything that I have mentioned in this article.
